Both being one of these protagonists and interacting with them, we will see the plot enriched with their conversations that conform to our style of play and the different missions that we do and characters that we know along the way. They will not hesitate to take the initiative to speak with this or that character if it helps them to progress in their personal mission, while the new affinity system will create a link with them that will take us from the romantic interest to the impossibility of being partners with travel.

Where a flag on the map means an important character in the story, but far from where you have to go on a mission. In fact, the game is so sparse in words regarding your mission log that many players may feel completely lost at first, something that the game could explain better. The most complete specialists will take dozens of hours to pass the first act if they want to finish all the missions.
The battle sits reliably on the pillars that the first Original Sin built. If you don’t know it, it’s a turn-based system. We are not talking about tactical pauses, typical of this type of role, no. Shifts that are more similar to the system of a JRPG as Final Fantasy X or Trails of Cold Steel than to any western proposal, where each character has its predefined order that you can see reflected on the screen and where each turn consumes a number of points that determines the actions we can perform Moving, attacking, using objects or casting spells and abilities have their own Action Points and our turn will end when we use them all. As a novelty, we are given the opportunity to delay our turn in order to gain a tactical advantage later if we need to.

Alone or in the company? Does not matter
With the number of ways to accomplish a mission, we can already see that Original Sin II is large and complex. But where it really fully demonstrates its flexibility is with its multiplayer or solo modes. We can perfectly plan a game for ourselves, and even within this formula, choose whether we want to be accompanied by other characters or completely on our own. If we are accompanied, we control the four protagonists, with whom to speak from their point of view and interact with their unique features. We can lend a hand to teleport or operating mechanisms. If we are a Lone Wolf, we can add points to this talent that will give us a boost in statistics to be able to perform in battle, having to rethink our actions and strategies throughout the game.
The multiplayer mode is a very different animal. If the original allowed us a cooperative for two players, here the option extends to up to four people. And while the local cooperative exists on PS4 and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch dispenses with it to focus exclusively on online gaming. Whichever option you choose, the game adapts, allowing us to freely explore the terrain, to the point that each player is on the other side of the map performing their own mission. Thanks to the reaction time allowed by turn-based fighting, playing with one or several friends and discussing the strategy to follow are one of the greatest pleasures that Original Sin 2 is capable of.
