Skill above all things. Precision, frenetismo, and nerves of steel to survive the most absolute chaos. The creator of Gears of War returns to the video game industry with a great multiplayer action game in which zero gravity fighting is the main protagonist. We put aside the weapons to tell you in this LawBreakers analysis our experience with the new Cliff Bleszinski.
It is absolute chaos. You run while you are shot and you shoot in response because, certainly, there is no other. It is a fight without quarter; a frantic fight in which everything goes, including kicking him in the opposite mouth to throw it far, far away, in the multiple zones of zero gravity that give LawBreakers a certain distinctive air compared to other multiplayer action games. It is not a particularly groundbreaking title, but the new Gears of War creator do not feel like “one more” among many others. It has personality, novel ideas, which are what have made me enjoy so much of its exciting shootings. It’s like going back to the old days, to the frantic action of Quake III, but with special and mechanical combat skills more typical of today. A hyper vitaminized Overwatch, as has been said out there? Nothing is further from reality.
Although there are nine different character classes and all of them have unique features that significantly modify the action, in this Cliff Bleszinski video game it does not matter so much the type of soldier you drive as the way in which you control it. It doesn’t matter if you are a doctor and there is a murderer in front of you; If you move well, if you take advantage of your tactical advantages, you can end your life and that of many others! It’s what I like most about LawBreakers. Here prevails the law of the strongest, the fastest, agile and lethal soldier with weapons, whatever they are! And this is an incredibly satisfying feeling. Each battle in this intense multiplayer action game involves you in a tidal wave of explosions that are hard to describe.
Blessed multiplayer chaos
Warriors who slide along the ground while opening fire, or titans equipped with missile launchers that from the sky bombard a battlefield where we also find gunmen who teleport or ninjas who stab cruelly in the back. LawBreakers takes us into a war without a quarter that leaves no respite. Such is the freneticism, such the speed with which the action takes place, that in a blink you can achieve glory or fail miserably in the face of enemies difficult to defeat by the idiosyncrasy of this videogame itself, which bets on verticality and acrobatics against the more traditional combat. Not only because of the zero-gravity zones, which are a real madness but mainly because of the tremendous agility shown by most characters within our reach.
They do not run, they fly ! through some labyrinthine scenarios that present mostly a great design. They are very varied among themselves, with a great balance between closed spaces and large open areas where we can unleash our murderous creativity. In this sense, the special skills of the fighters are also surprisingly fun and very useful! in unexpected ways. The murderer, for example, uses a hook to move at high speed through the stages but … what if the one you hook is an enemy? It’s brutal! You can kill him a deadly pit and move on as if nothing. Also those capable of raising walls with which to block the passage of enemies or those who can no longer only fly, but also, use their reactors to throw the airs into the opposites.
Each battle involves you in a explosions and shots that are hard to describe.
tidal wave of The warriors of LawBreakers is so different from each other that it is hard to believe that at the moment of truth, there is such a balance of power between them. There are better than others in certain tasks, it is true, because we have specialists in damage, tanks and support units, but as I pointed out before, it doesn’t matter if you are a doctor or gunman; In the end, you will have enough power to kill your enemies. Which does not mean that the team game has been abandoned? It is essential to achieve victory in a title in which to kill and kill a lot, it is the least. In the work of Boss Key, we find objectives of the most varied that force us to move from one place to another fulfilling task that, for the most part, require the support of the allies.
Overcharge, for example, proposes us to fight for a battery that we must take to our base, and charge it with energy, to score a point. What happens? That in that process of loading, the enemy can attack, steal it, and finish the task at its base, scoring them both. Turf War, on the other hand, poses an interesting twist to the classic Domination mode, leading us to fight for several areas of the mapping that will block your access again and again to rebalance forces. In both cases the action focuses on specific points of the mapping, creating spectacular 5 vs 5 duels in which it is essential to take advantage of the special skills of the soldiers. And then we have Blitzball, a kind of sports competition, in which speed and agility prevail over everything else. Steal the energy sphere and transport it to the enemy base before it explodes into a thousand pieces! It’s exciting, and terribly funny because you don’t rest for a moment. It’s what I like most about LawBreakers.
It is a difficult video game, which requires practice, to fully enjoy its battles.
Its frantic action, the chaos of the fight and the crazy stunts are the great attractions of a video game that gives you even the opportunity to open fire back, without looking, not so much to end the life of an opponent as to gain momentum in all those areas without gravity that is a pure spectacle. You really enjoy all this chaos, with enemies that fly, that hang from here to there, that shoot, throw flying kicks or even drop from the heights to crush the unsuspecting ones nearby. It is a total war, covering all possible directions, and in that aspect, LawBreakers creates a thrilling multiplayer action with which it is easy to have a great time. I also tell you that this is a difficult video game, which requires practice, to fully enjoy your battles, but as soon as you get the basic controls and start to dominate your vertical fight, there are few games capable of exciting as much as the new from Cliff B.
With nine character classes and five different game modes, LawBreakers offers fun for a while; more considering that we also find loot boxes with various items to customize the appearance of the fighters. These boxes can be purchased with real money, but in general, throwing a few items a day, you get the necessary points to avoid having to invest more money in this production. Technically, the Boss Key game looks great on PC, especially thanks to the frenetic with which the action takes place, although the PS4 version still presents some performance problems that somewhat hinder the shootings. Is it suicide to play with command? Although I prefer the keyboard and mouse, I have thrown some games with the remote and it certainly manages very well. It’s a matter of getting used to it, but in general, at this point, a great job has been done.
Having so much competition involved, LawBreakers has managed to get me in a bad way. Each new game makes me want a video game more, although even now it lacks more content, especially in the form of new maps, it fulfills what was promised. It is a different multiplayer action title that, without revolutionizing gender, manages to demarcate itself from the competition with its clear commitment to the most frantic action, the struggle in environments without gravity and the verticality of its scenarios. Will it achieve success? The initial sales data are somewhat worrisome, but if Boss Key manages to keep LawBreakers well nourished, with the quality of its fighting, it could end up gaining a place in the market.
The frenzy of their fighting and the great design of their battle scenarios make LawBreakers one of the best multiplayer action games of the moment. With nine characters to choose from and crazy special skills to take advantage of, the new Gears of War creator manages to surprise thanks to the chaotic frenzy of his shootings on stages where, as a rule, there is no gravity. Although there are several aspects to refine, thanks to the variety of game modes and the acrobatic of the fight, it is easy to enjoy this online shooting title.
- The freneticism of its action and the commitment to the verticality of the scenarios
- Nine heroes with very different abilities. Good balance of power
- The variety of game modes, which know how to surprise
- Fighting in zero gravity is a real madness and it’s a lot of fun! …
- … although sometimes you feel they are wasted areas
- Character design is sometimes too typical. Lacks personality
- Some more maps would have been phenomenal. There are little inspired scenarios
