Yesterday, Larian’s website was put with a major number three. That may cause one to assume the Divinity studio is going to announce Divinity: Original Sin 3 (or possibly Divinity 3), however, the evidence really points to something somewhat extraordinary. Poke around in the video document, and you’ll discover references to Baldur’s Gate 3 and Wizards of the Coast.
Today, Larian replaced that video with another one highlighting tentacles folding around the Roman numeral. Normally, I promptly downloaded it and opened it in a word editor to hunt for more clues.
The studio was increasingly careful this time. There aren’t any references to games or companies in the metadata that I could discover, however, there are loads of notices of Kraken, squid, and calamari.
There’s likewise a reference to a Photoshop layer called “Swen’s Birthday Party.” I wasn’t sure what to think about that one until Andy guided me towards a tweet from Larian CEO Swen Vincke:
You swindlers, you.
Like the font of the logo, references to Kraken suggest another Divinity game, as Divinity: OS2 opens with a tentacled sea creature tearing apart a pontoon. Yet that doesn’t clarify the extremely clear Baldur’s Gate 3 data in the main video, which Larian declined to remark on yesterday.
Maybe the tentacles are only a misdirection?

The great thing is that I’ll presumably be glad either way. Larian is making Baldur’s Gate 3? That appears to be really certain given yesterday’s leak, and that’s cool, sounds good. Yet if Larian is making Divinity: Original Sin 3? Hell yeah, additionally great. And if Larian is making both? indeed, I would like those video games to be made.
With E3 2019 a little more than seven days away, and lots of declarations sure to precede and amid it, we’re most likely going to discover what this is all about very soon.
