StarCraft Remastered analysis. Remastering an immortal classic

StarCraft

Relive the devastating war between Terran, Zerg, and Protoss thanks to the remastering of a real-time strategy classic, which comes to life almost 20 years after its birth to the joy of Blizzard fans. In 3D Games, we get nostalgic in the StarCraft Remastered analysis as we remember why this is an imperishable masterpiece.

It is hard not to get emotional when you talk about StarCraft. Next to the legendary Age of Empires is the video game that made me love the strategy in real-time and, also with the classic Ensemble Studios, is one of the titles that I have dedicated more hours in my life. Years go by, new games appear … and yet there it is, always present, always ready to make you spend great moments in front of the PC. It is an imperishable work, a timeless classic that almost 20 years after its birth continues to attract the attention of thousands of players from around the world. That’s how great StarCraft is, how epic is the fight of Raynor, Kerrigan, Zeratul and so many other memorable characters that are already part of the history of electronic leisure. Don’t you know them? Did you want to enjoy this classic? Blizzard brings back one of his most remembered works with a StarCraft: Remastered that features a good face wash and some improvements that suit him frankly.

Do not expect major changes in the visual or news at the playable level. Those responsible for Diablo and Warcraft have been faithful to the original material, raising this remastering as what it is, the development of a classic so that new generations can enjoy it without complications. I think it’s great although being StarCraft, I expected more, especially when it comes to artificial intelligence of the allied troops, which will make us suffer more from the account because of their erratic behavior both during the battles, where it will be customary to see how they hinder their path; but also every time we give the order to move forward and these do not know very well what route to follow to achieve the objective in the shortest possible time. This requires great attention, to control every movement of troops to the millimeter, which can scare and frustrate all those who have been raised with the new wedge strategy games, in which these kinds of problems are no longer so usual

The return of a great classic

Blizzard’s maxim has been to improve everything they could “without changing the heart of the StarCraft experience” and they have certainly fulfilled their goal. The sensations with this strategy classic are the same ones that once made us fall in love with their amazing space epic. There is excitement in the battles, the tension in some of his most difficult battles, epic in the development of the story and countless memorable characters who are still able to steal our hearts. Of course, mission design feels somewhat simple compared to what was seen in more recent works, including the masterful StarCraft 2, and in certain aspects, obviously, the classic has become dated. It matters little given the enormous quality that this video game holds, which is accompanied by its excellent Brood War expansion, which introduced new combat units and an almost perfect balance between the three factions in Liza. Even today, the latter is surprising.

I love how well Terran, Zerg, and Protoss complement each other on the battlefield. Each army has its pros and cons, its way of dealing with the fight, whether it is overwhelming the enemies with countless waves of monsters, resorting to the air force, the power of the tanks, or the use of fearsome special abilities. And nothing better than multiplayer to experience these duels with all of the law. In this sense, Blizzard has improved the game search engine to make it much easier to find rivals of our level. There is another detail that I appreciate. Now that the classic StarCraft is free, the Californian study allows users of the remastered edition to compete against those who have a copy of the original in their possession, further expanding the number of fans who can now enjoy what, at the time, was one of the precursors of eSport.Remastered

Small touches here and there that allow you to enjoy the classic again in good condition

That’s how transcendental StarCraft has been for the video game industry. It is a legendary work, one of those titles that you must play yes or yes, if only to feel good about yourself and that you can say “I have played it!”, Although I assure you it will suffice a couple of minutes with him to understand why, even 20 years later, it is still such a recommended work. I insist, in some aspects, you can see the passage of time, and this remastering does not do much to solve it, but it is StarCraft, and it is pure fun. It also includes some details that will surely please the most veteran: you can select the campaign you want in the order you prefer, there are quick keys and repetitions, and it includes the option of saving in the cloud so you can follow your departure wherever you go.

Small tweaks here and there that allow you to enjoy the classic again in good condition. The graphics? It is not a spectacular change but the redesign of troops, structures, and the resolution increase is appreciated because even with that “old air” that gives off the game, its bloody battles look frankly good, they have charm ! and it is something that Blizzard has managed to explode very well. Not convinced by this new look? As in other remasters, in StarCraft Remastered you have the option of returning to the original graphics at the touch of a key. Among the visual improvements, there are also new portraits for heroes and combat units, while at the sound level the video game wins many integers with the Spanish dubbing with the same voices of StarCraft 2 or a remastered soundtrack that has won in presence, with melodies that get you fully into the intense action of the video game. This is not trivial considering that, surely, you will spend many hours in front of the PC enjoying the exciting war between Zerg, Protoss, and Terran. This is StarCraft, a video game that, two decades after its launch, continues to raise passions.

Conclusion:

StarCraft is not a simple video game, it is a legendary work, an imperishable classic that redefined the way of understanding the strategy in real-time. So good is that almost 20 years after its launch has fallen in love again with its exciting action and epic plot. This remastering falls short of news, there are changes at the graphic level and little else, but it is the perfect excuse to rediscover a memorable work or if you could not play it in your day, embark on a journey that has already captivated millions of players in all the world.
